Text:

There is not a required text for this course. I will post MYCLE materials for each lecture at least 12 hours in advance. You are responsible for printing the MYCLE materials for use in class.

Course Objective:

This course emphasizes the use of economic analysis to address production and operational issues facing farm and agribusiness firms. Students will obtain competencies in the use of economic and quantitative tools in solving production and operations management problems.

Course Information:

Your grade in this course will be based on your performance on homework assignments, two regular exams, and a comprehensive final exam. There will be no exemptions from the final. The weights for these items are as follows:

Homework . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (30%)
Quizzes (open book). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .(10%)
Regualr exams 3 @ 20% each . . . . . . . . . . . . . (60%)
Total . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (100%)

Four exams will be administered, but only your high three exam scores will be used in calculating final grades. Final grades will be assigned as follows. The highest student score in the class will be determined. The number of points required to bring that student's score to 100% will be added to his or her score, as well as to every other student's score. The following letter grades are then assigned:

90-100     points = A
80 -89.99 points = B
70 -79.99 points = C
60 -69.99 points = D and
< 60 points = F.

Attendance Policy:

I take a daily roll and class attendance is expected (The probability of an open-book quiz during a lecture =1 if there are any absences.). I expect to notify you in advance if I am forced to miss a class. In the event that this is not possible, you are obligated to wait on me for 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time of the class.

The University administration asks that students be made aware of the following information. "As members of the Clemson University community, we have inherited Thomas Green Clemson's vision of this institution as a 'high seminary of learning.' Fundamental to this vision is a mutual committment to truthfulness, honor, and responsibility, without which we cannot earn the trust and respect of others. Furthermore, we recognize that academic dishonesty detracts from the value of a Clemson degree. Therefore, we shall not tolerate lying, cheating, or stealing in any form."
