In July 2003, the Department of Experimental Statistics and the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics were combined to form the Department of Applied Economics & Statistics. Part of the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences at Clemson University in upstate South Carolina, the Department has nearly 50 faculty and support staff actively engaged in teaching, research and extension activities at Clemson and at several sites around South Carolina. Dr. Hoke Hill is Department Chair.
Clemson University offers the Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics with a major in either Agricultural Economics or in Community and Economic Development (CED).
The Department also offers several graduate degrees -- the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Applied Economics, a thesis option Master of Science (M.S.) and a non-thesis option Master of Science.
Outreach activities of the Department provide economic information to citizens, agricultural producers and agribusiness in South Carolina through the Clemson Cooperative Extension Service and other outreach activities.
